Agreed Policy

Trade Unions, Guilds and Vocational Representation

Workers may organize independently, while labour relations should move toward a corporatist system of permanent sectoral institutions representing workers, employers and professions.

Position

Restore Europe rejects both worker powerlessness before concentrated capital and permanent class conflict as the organizing principle of economic life.

Policy

  • Protect the right to form and join independent trade unions.
  • Protect lawful collective bargaining over wages and working conditions.
  • Establish sectoral chambers or vocational corporations representing workers, employers, craftsmen and professions.
  • Allow those bodies to negotiate wage floors, apprenticeships, professional standards and dispute-resolution mechanisms.
  • Encourage mediation and negotiated settlement before prolonged industrial conflict.
  • Preserve a proportionate right to strike while protecting genuinely essential services through continuity requirements.
  • Prevent unions from becoming compulsory organs of the state.
  • Prevent employers from controlling supposedly independent worker organizations.
  • Permit genuine plural representation rather than one state-controlled union.

Implementation note

Implementation note

The manifesto expressly supports modern guilds, professional chambers and vocational corporations while rejecting occupational bodies as instruments of an omnipotent state. Catholic teaching also recognizes trade-union organization and proportionate strike action.

Every question in this catalogue carries a position. Entries marked Derived follow the direction of the manifesto without their implementation being fixed, and several name the legal or treaty change they would require. Positions are revised as the movement decides; the version and date above say which text you are reading.
